Marketing Officer

Marketing Officers drive profit and promote products and services through coordinated marketing campaigns.

You will be responsible for raising the profile of your organisation and making it more attractive to potential clients and staff. Your role could include planning and delivering public relation campaigns, working with local and national press and media, developing and managing the company website or writing articles and designing promotional materials such as articles, leaflets and brochures. 

Marketing Officer is also known as Digital Marketing Executive, Marketing Assistant, Online Marketing Officer.

How to become

You will usually need 5 GCSEs or English and maths.

You will usually need 3 A-levels or equivalent such as a T-Level or BTEC.

Employers may expect experience, which could be paid or voluntary. It may be possible to gain experience in an admin job in a communications department.

Although there is no set entry route, marketing officers often have a relevant qualification. This could be in PR, marketing, journalism or communications, often at degree level. It is important to check your preferred course provider's entry requirements for guidance.

No matter what role you start in or where you are in your career path, there are always opportunities to develop and progress in health and care.

You could specialise in digital marketing. With experience, you could become a Marketing Manager, Online Marketing Manager or Director of Marketing.

You could also become a freelance marketing consultant, work in advertising, sales or public relations and communications.
