How to become
There are many routes into Estates work; these include university, apprenticeships or on the job training. You will normally need 5 GCSEs including English, maths and sciences, or equivalent. You will normally need either A-Levels, BTEC or T-Levels depending on your preference in learning. However, volunteering and work experience is valued by employers.
It is important to check your preferred course provider's entry requirements for guidance.
Estate Officers will often be qualified and have experience in at least one technical area such as electrical engineering, medical engineering, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
Employers may ask for a driving licence.

No matter what role you start in or where you are in your career path, there are always opportunities to develop and progress in health and care.
Once you have gained your qualifications and have experience, you can progress to become a Team Leader supervising the work of others. With further experience you could become an Estates Manager with responsibility for a specific area of a hospital or service.
