How to become
Although GCSEs aren't essential to work as a Gardener or Grounds staff, it's a good idea to get some basic qualifications. Some employers may expect a qualification in horticulture or landscaping and experience of horticulture work. This could be from paid or voluntary work or through experience at home.
You can then apply for a job or an apprenticeship and study part-time for a horticultural qualification, such as a Royal Horticultural Society award, certificate or diploma.
Where can this role lead
No matter what role you start in or where you are in your career path, there are always opportunities to develop and progress in health and care.
With experience, you could become a Team Leader or Manager, overseeing the work of other Gardeners and Grounds staff.
